A mixture of cardiovascular conditioning with muscle sculpt using a variety of equipment including dumbbells, bands, steps and your own body weight. Somatics (with Amber Dunn) Tuesdays from 12-1pm May 7-June 25 Somatics Exercises focus on slow controlled conscious movement through a serious of gentle exercises. It focuses on training tight muscles to relax and lengthen through the nervous system. You are retraining the muscles through contraction and then very slow lengthening & relaxation of the muscles, moving involuntarily. Control from the cerebellum to conscious control in the motor cortex of the brain. It is very focused and deliberate awareness of movement. |

Yin Yoga (with Leigh Roberts) Thursdays from 4:30-5:30pm May 9-June 27 Slower paced, more meditative version of the popular physical and spiritual discipline of yoga. In Yin Yoga, the poses are held for a long period of time (typically three to five minutes or longer) to target the connective tissues (such as the ligaments) rather than focusing on the muscles. As a result, the asanas are the passive holds, with muscular engagement. |
