GRANDE PRAIRIE – GPRC Athletics is pleased to announce that Jared Cheverie is assuming the position of Head Coach for GPRC Wolves Women’s Basketball team. Cheverie is coming to GPRC from the East Coast with 12 years of coaching experience. His experience includes having coached at the post-secondary level at institutions such as the University of Prince Edward Island, Holland College and Crandall University. Cheverie has also coached the Canada Games Basketball Program in Charlottetown, P.E.I.
“Coaching at GPRC is the opportunity of a lifetime,” says Cheverie. “The openness and sense of family that the GPRC community has already shown me demonstrates how dedicated the College is to supporting their athletic programs and that’s something I’m excited to be a part of. I am humbled by the outpouring of support and welcoming that I have already received and am just really looking forward to getting out there and working with the team.”
Wolves Athletics is looking forward to the coaching skills and energy Cheverie will bring to the program.
“We are excited to have Jared Cheverie’s post-secondary level coaching experience and believe his personality and philosophy will make a great fit to our Wolves culture,” says GPRC Athletics Director François Fournier. “We are confident that our program will continue to grow and succeed with him as Head Coach.”
“It is a great honour for me to bring the East to the West,” says Cheverie. “I am thrilled to be representing my home while becoming a part of the GPRC team and work toward continued growth and success with the Women’s Basketball program.”
